YOUTH CHOIR AUDITIONS
The Longview Symphony invites brave young singers to answer the call & embark on an unforgettable journey through Middle-earth at our Lord of the Rings Concert on April 18, 2026.
This epic adventure will be performed live by a 90-piece Longview Symphony Orchestra, joined by a 100-voice SFA Choir and a 40–50 voice Youth Choir. If your child loves to sing, this is their moment to step into the Fellowship!

Audition Basics
- Individual auditions (about 5 minutes each)
- Ages 8–14
- Treble voices
- Girls welcome
- Boys’ voices should be unchanged
Prepared Song
- 20–30 seconds of a simple folk tune or any song your child loves
- Sung unaccompanied or with a piano track
Singers may also be asked to:
- Match pitch
- Echo short melodic or rhythmic patterns
- Sing brief warm-ups to check vocal range
What We’re Listening For
- Accurate pitch and rhythm
- Healthy, clear vocal tone
- Ability to follow direction & blend with an ensemble
- Focus & readiness to sing as part of a group
The Quest Requires Commitment
- Availability for required rehearsals
- Performance on April 18, 2026 with the Longview Symphony at the Belcher Center

- Held at First United Methodist Church Choir Room, Downtown Longview
- Saturday, 2/28 – 4:00–5:30 PM -Orientation + Rehearsal

- Break: No rehearsals during Holy Week & Easter
- Thursday, 4/9 – 5:30 PM start
- Saturday, 4/11 – 4:00 PM start (if needed)
- Rehearsals that are NOT at FUMC: Monday, 4/13 – 6:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Longview (if needed)
Mandatory rehearsals:
- Friday, 4/17 at Belcher
- Saturday, 4/18 (concert day) at Belcher
Required
Parents commit to at least 7 of the 9 scheduled rehearsals, plus the 2 mandatory rehearsals (4/17 and 4/18).
